Heavy Lift Booster
March 2020
Clean boost pedals are an important part of any pedalboard. If placed at the end of your signal chain, it allows for volume boosts during lead parts—If placed before your gain pedals, it allows for more tonal flexibility by pushing the drives harder for more clipping. They are often used with tube amplifiers in order to naturally break-up the tube preamp, which was the basis for many of the classic rock tones of the 60's and 70's.
The Circuit
This is a clean boost pedal based on the BYOC 27V Booster. It uses the 7660S voltage converter to output +18V and -9V for a full 27V of headroom, while still operating on a standard 9V power supply. This functions as a extremely high-fidelity preamp, without distorting or coloring the input signal at all.
